The Appalachian Trail: is more than 2,175-miles long; a footpath stretching through 14 eastern states from Maine to Georgia. Conceived in 1921 and first completed in 1937, it traverses the wild, scenic and culturally significant lands of the Appalachian Mountains.

Spearhead Trail System:The Southwest Virginia multi-use trail project includes the counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell and Wise as well as the City of Norton - an initiative by the Southwest Regional Recreation Authority (SRRA).
